High Altitude Region

  • Before introducing High altitude Region, we would like to mention some pertinent points which everyone should know and take care of it’s before undertaking this trip to Western Himalaya.

 

  • This barren paradise, nestled in the Trans-Himalayan region, in the states of Himachal, Ladakh (UT) and Jammu & Kashmir in Upper North India, It is one of the favorite jaunt for nature lovers and adventurous souls.

 

  • Riders from all over the world throng in this mountainous region to explore the less explored jewels of nature.

 

  • Besides natural treasures, the region is also famous for its ancient Buddhist monasteries. Himachal & Ladakh is often dubbed as ‘Little Tibet’ as its shares an international boundary with Tibet and play host to a sizable population of Tibetan Buddhists.

 

  • Although a trip to this region has a lot to offer but everyone is required to take some precautions as it is mostly a barren land and has low atmospheric pressure/low oxygen level at higher altitude.


How to deal with high altitude and acclimatize in high-altitude region.

  • Acclimatization is one of the most vital aspects of the itinerary sketching and should be given utmost importance. Our designed program not to rush your Himalayan trip and give proper time for acclimatization.

 

Few Points to keep in mind:

  • Physical fitness is the first and the foremost thing you need to consider while undertaking this expedition.

 

  1. If any of participants is suffering from high blood pressure, heart ailments and asthma, kindly consult with our physician before undertaking this expedition.

 

  1. Hydration is necessary just increase your normal water intake by a liter before or during the trip.

 

  1. During the cold weather, cover your head and ears with something warm.

 

 

  1. Some preventive medicines do aid acclimatization and treat altitude sickness the most popular is Diamox, the local version of these medicine, a time tested and natural alternative is garlic soup or soup prepared with lots of Garlic

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at Srinagar (The gateway of High Mountains & Passes)

Morning arrive at Srinagar airport, where you will meet and greet with our driver followed by transfer to hotel. After refreshment it’s time to gather at hotel lobby for a brief introduction about the upcoming epic adventure journey. 

 

Post briefing it is now time to get familiarized with your Machine (The Royal Enfield) as well as mountain traffic. After test ride we will return back to hotel. Time free to enjoy the scenic beauty of Srinagar.

 

Activity: Test ride

Elevation: 5200 ft. above sea level

Overnight at: Hotel / Meals: Dinner & Breakfast

Day 2

Srinagar I Zoji la I Kargil (205 Km/5–6 hrs Ride)

On day 2nd ride begin from Srinagar towards Kargil en route climb over Zoji la pass (3550m) above the sea level, Post steep descend tea break at Drass (02nd Coldest Inhabited place in the world).  Later continue to Kargil followed by Kargil war memorial. This memorial is dedicated to the martyred soldiers who gave their lives for our tomorrow. After visit, our ride continues to Kargil.

Day 3

Kargil I Sangam I Magnetic Hill I Leh (220 Km/5-6 hrs Ride)

After breakfast at hotel, we will move towards Leh (Capital city of Ladakh), en route stop at confluence of Indus & Zanskar Rivers, Magnetic hill & Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, before reaching at Leh. We will cross over picturesque mountain passes of Namikla pass (3718m) above the sea level & Fotula pass (4109m) above the sea level.

Day 4

Day at leisure at Leh

We will have the entire day to stroll down in the Leh Market and/or promenade in Leh town (the capital city of ladakh region).

 

Leh is on an altitude of 11250 ft. above sea level hence due to high altitude, it is utmost important that you rest all the day to avoid the AMS (acute mountain sickness).

Day 5

Leh I Khardung la I Nubra Valley (130 Km/5–6 hrs Ride)

On day 5th, the dream come true as today we will ride over world highest motor able road to approach Khardung la (5602 m), which has been listed in Guinness Book of World Record (GWR). Experience the 360° view of Himalayan range and continue ride to Nubra valley (The land of Mongolian camels). On arrival check-in at the camp. Post refreshment proceeds to the desert, where you can experience the double-humped camel ride or spend quality time in the heart of cold desert.

Highest Elevation of the Trip: (18,380 ft. Khardung la) above sea level 

Overnight at: Deluxe Camp / Meals: Dinner & Breakfast

Day 6

Nubra I Diskit I Shyok I Pangong Lake (180 Km/5-6 hrs Ride)

After breakfast proceed towards Pangong Lake, en route visit the biggest statue of Buddha at Diskit. Today’s ride will be challenging with panoramic view of Himalayan high mountains, en route stop at the bank of Shyok River for photography, afternoon reach at Pangong Camp-site. Post refreshment; fell free to ride to the world famous Pangong Lake located on the altitude of 14300 ft. from sea level, shared by two countries India & China.

Overnight at: Standard Camp / Meals: Dinner & Breakfast

Day 7

Pangong I Tsaga la I Hanle (220 Km/6-7 hrs Ride)

Post breakfast ride towards Hanle Today ride will be more adventurous hence we prepare of this. Hanle has world’s highest observatory at a staggering height of 4500m. End of the day we reach at Hanle located in Changthang valley.

Day 8

Hanle I Loma-Bend I Tsomoriri (185 km/6 hrs Ride)

The 8th day ride begins to Tsomoriri, one of the splendid lake in entire Chumathang valley. En route we cross over Loma-Bend and Nyoma (Closest site near the Indo-China LOC). Before reaching at hotel we will witness the spectacular view of Tsomoriri Lake.

Day 9

Tsomoriri I Tsokar I Sarchu (215 Km/7–8 hrs Ride)

The 9th day we will enter the state of Himachal Pradesh, en route we will climb over the giant Lachung La (5060m) and more plain a perfect blend of mountain-range-horizon. Post lunch continue ride to Sarchu. On arrival check-in at camp.

Max. Elevation of the day: (16600 ft. Lachung la) above sea level 

Overnight at: Standard Tent / Meals: Dinner & Breakfast

Day 10

Sarchu I Atal Tunnel I Manali (170 Km/5–6 hrs Ride)

Today, we will be leaving from Sarchu to Manali via Baralachha Pass (4850 meters). Stop at Darcha for tea stop. Later continue ride Atal tunnel going through Pir Panjal mountains range of Himalayas at 10000 ft. above sea level (world longest tunnel >9.5 km< above 3050 mt. altitude). Afternoon reach at Manali (**Ride will terminate here**)

 

After completing the sensational expedition, evening enjoy the farewell dinner with our cruise where we share the memorable moments of the expedition

Manali I Delhi via overnight Volvo Bus

Morning check out from hotel, free to stroll down on the mall. Afternoon transfers to Volvo bus stand to catch bus towards Delhi. Overnight on board – Adieu
